Simple to Use

Look no further! Rubicon is the full text search engine you need. Just let Rubicon index your data and your users will be ready to search by simply typing words. Searches may also be entered as a logical expression using and, or, not, near, and like. And of course your searches may include phrases and wildcards.

Blazing Speed

Rubicon searches are fast – most searches performed on local data take less than one tenth of a second – beating conventional techniques by many thousand fold. How’s it done? By pre-building indexes of all the words in the data being searched, Rubicon does not have to read the data for most searches. Instead it just uses the indexes to locate the matching information.

Database Searches without Limits

Rubicon is ideal for database searches. A conventional search tool like SQL simply cannot offer the flexibility and speed of Rubicon, period. Searches may be performed on any field type, including memo fields, and results may be returned in a match table with or without ranking.

Works with Your Engine

Rubicon 2 supports many popular BDE replacements including: Advantage, Apollo, DBISAM, FlashFiler, NexusDB, and Topaz. SQL backends are accessed via the BDE or SQL specific drivers such as ADO, Direct Oracle Access, InterBase Express, InterBase Objects, and ODBC Express.

International Character Support

Rubicon 2 can be configured so that international characters are normalized during the search process.   Without normalization, "resume" and "résumé" are different words.  With normalization enabled, they are considered equivalent.

Search Text, HTML, and RTF files too!

Need to be able to search through all those files on your hard disk?  Rubicon can handle text, HTML, and RTF files with ease. Other file types just need a reader.

Search Hints

Search hints give the user instant feedback by displaying matching words and number of occurrences as they type!

Matching Word Highlighting

Don’t keep the end user guessing as to where the matching words are! Display search results with the matching words highlighted.

Easy on Resources

Rubicon was designed from the beginning to be both fast and efficient. Using memory caching and index compression, Rubicon minimizes disk or network reads and writes. While the initial indexing is best performed on the fastest available system, searching may be performed on nearly any system since Rubicon only needs about 1kb of memory per 1,000 records being searched.

Works with Delphi and C++ Builder

Rubicon is written in Delphi and is compatible with Delphi 4 through Delphi 7, C++ Builder 5, and C++Builder 6.
